Intel said that the 3D-camera technology enabled laptops which is developed by chipmaker will be going in sale this year. The seven firms will release the products containing the software and hardware identified by RealSense brand. In Las Vegas press conference Intel expressed how the depth sensors can be used to interpret the gesture control and also to distinguish the background and the front objects.
However the idea is not new to the tech world. Microsoft Kinetics and SoftKinetic’s Depthsense cameras has already offered the functions. Recently Apple has introduced PrimeSense, making depth sensing hardware. Expert said that the Intel’s invention could enlarge this technology as it will go as a built-in component.
